Liu Xiaoqing visits Houston

Renowned Chinese actress Liu Xiaoqing and Tianjin People's Arts Theater brought the play

A Legend: Sai Jin Hua to Houston last Saturday at the Hobby Center. The much anticipated stage play attracted a full house. As the play unfolded on stage, the character of the heroine Sai Jin Hua felt more like that of the actress Liu herself than the historical figure, making this play uniquely tailored to Liu alone. Various local community organizations hosted Liu and the theater group during their stay.

On stage with fellow actors and actresses, Liu Xiaoqing holds a sign celebrating the 147th successful performance of the play since its debut.

Xu Shengnan (left), president of United Association of Chinese Alumni in Greater Houston, won the honor of playing a minor role in the production and sharing the stage with Liu Xiaoqing.

Liu Xiaoqing holds a gift of a framed photo from her former colleague and good friend Lily Chen Foster. They held a talk at the Baker Institute at Rice University on April 10, reminiscing about their past experiences in filming together and taking stock of one another's different paths in life.
