Outsmart the spies in Beijing and win $72,000 cash reward
If you see something, report it anonymously and walk away with a cool half a million yuan ($72,382) reward.
According to Beijing Municipal Bureau of State Security, anyone who shares tips on foreign intelligence agencies and other hostile forces carrying out espionage acts, such as political infiltration, subversion, secession and stealing secrets, will be awarded, Beijing Morning Post newspaper reported on Monday.
As the capital of the country, Beijing has always been the main target of foreign intelligence agencies, and the authorities want to encourage citizens to fight against this increasing threat.
Citizens can report their tips in three ways, dialing the hotline 12339, via letters, or directly approaching the officials at No 9, Qianmen East Street, Dongcheng district, Beijing.
The informants will receive the award within 90 days if their information turns out to be true. They can use their own ID cards to withdraw the money or designate others to receive the award.
Depending on the quality of the information, the cash incentive has been divided into three levels: 10,000 to 50,000 yuan; 50,000 to 100,000 yuan; and 100,000 to 500,000 yuan.
The informants can also request the officials not to release any information about their identity or about their family and relatives.
However, if people make false reports, they would be punished according to the country's regulations and laws.
