The Huayin ancient tune (Huayin laoqiang) is a genre developed from a folk story-telling art in Shaanxi, crafted at the end of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and early period of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). It is listed into the first batch of the national intangible cultural heritage. There are very few people who still take part in the folk art form today.
