Anhui boy dies after getting trapped in car window
An 11-year-old boy died on Friday after his head became jammed in a car window, Xin’an Evening News reported on Monday.
The victim, identified as Qin, was discovered hanging from the window of an SUV in his neighborhood in Hefei, capital of Anhui province.
The window was jammed against his throat, while his body was suspended outside the vehicle, with his feet off the ground, according to witnesses.
The incident came a month after a car accident left Qin’s father in a coma, and two days after the boy wrote a letter to the public to raise money for the family’s medical bills.
“He left home at noon to go play, but had failed to return to prepare for school in the afternoon,” the victim’s uncle told Xin’an Evening News.
Qin’s mother went to look for him and was eventually alerted at about 2 pm by a resident who spotted Qin while out walking her dog.
The SUV was parked between a residential building and an electricity pole, meaning the boy was not in plain sight, witnesses said.
The car owner, who lives in the neighborhood, arrived at the scene after hearing the woman shouting for help and took Qin to hospital, where the boy was pronounced dead.
Police said an investigations are ongoing.
