On July 11, the work program Use the Advantages of Zhongguancun Energy Saving and Environmental Protection Technology to Promote the Transformation and Upgrading of Traditional Industries in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei was jointly issued by the Zhongguancun Administrative Committee, the Tianjin Science and Technology Commission and the Hebei Provincial Science and Technology Department.

The program aims to realize the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region by 2018.

"In the context of accelerating construction of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei collaborative innovation community," said Chen Xing, a researcher in the industrial office of the Zhongguancun Administrative Committee, "Governments from the three regions should act as a third party to meet the technological and environmental needs of enterprises."

The transformation and upgrading of traditional industries such as steel, chemicals and building materials in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region will be promoted in four ways: by undertaking smaller projects, planning and completing major projects, developing cooperation mechanisms for cross-regional energy conservation projects, and building a green financial services platform.

Having gathered all kinds of energy conservation and environmental protection resources, Zhongguancun is now the largest new energy industry R&D service and technology radiation center in China. It has formed an industrial cluster based on technical service, a total engineering package and integrated innovation.
