UN body to hold fundraising gala to promote gender equality
UN Women and Global Goodwill Ambassadors jointly announced a fundraising event to promote gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.
With the theme of "Join Hands for Gender Equality", the charitable event will take place in Beijing in December. A similar function was organized last year in partnership with a Chinese UN office to help promote gender equality.
The gala will include various performances and an auction of valuable art. The organizing committees will also present appreciation certificates to benefactors and supporters of this endeavor.
"We are excited about the partnership, and about the fundraising event. The collaboration with Global Goodwill Ambassador will contribute to promoting gender equality and the empowerment of women in China," said Julia Broussard, country program manager of the UN Women China Office.
Anna Li, president of Beijing Liu Jiu Culture Development, the host of the upcoming fundraising gala in December, said, "I'm elated that we are able to once again organize this fundraising event to support UN Women and its ongoing and relentless work in China".
The partnership has successfully brought together entrepreneurs and individuals who share similar aspirational goals through charitable fundraising. It also serves as a call for action to encourage more organizations and individuals to support gender equality.
"We need businesses to understand their roles in advancing social responsibilities," said Yen Chou, president of Chinese-American Parent-Student Council (CAPSC), a non-governmental organization and a special consultant with the UN Economic and Social Council. "CAPSC is honored to be a part of this important fundraiser, which will be sustained for many years to come and have a distinct impact on the lives of women and girls in China," she said.
