Mareczko wins another stage in Tour of Hainan cycling race

HAIKOU, China - Italian rider Jakub Mareczko from Wilier Triestina cycling team wins again in the sixth stage at 2017 Tour of Hainan. He becomes the first cyclist winning five stages in a row in this 12-year-old event.
The race from Changjiang to Sanya covering 219.6km is the second longest route of 2017 Tour of Hainan. The road is relatively flat so that the peloton keeps a steady speed today.
Wilier Triestina cycling team led the peloton and caught the several breakaways 4km before the finishing line. With his excellent sprint skill, Mareczko got a five-game winning streak and set a new record of the event. He also expanded his advantage to nearly 1 minute.
Chinese rider Liu Jianpeng from Hengxiang cycling team keeps the blue jersey representing the best Asian rider, while Vitaliy Buts from Kolss cycling team keeps polka-dot jersey as the best climber.
"It was a long race today, fortunately we caught the breakaways and won again. I feel so excited to win so many titles this year and I have more space to create better results." Mareczko said after the race.
The next stage scheduled on Friday will be from Sanya to Wuzhishan covering 166.5km.
