The annual ice harvesting started Sunday on the Songhua River in Harbin, the capital city of Northeast China's Heilongjiang province, one month ahead of the city's international ice and snow sculpture festival. About 150,000 cubic meters of ice blocks will be cut and delivered to the Harbin Ice and Snow World, where they will eventually be made into ice sculptures.
