Top 10 Chinese regions with the most online sales in 2017
China's Guangdong, Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces top e-commerce sales in China over the past year, according to a national digital economy development report.
Northwest China's Gansu province, Southwest China's Guizhou province and Tibet autonomous region became the top three regions with the fastest sales growth in 2017, revealed by the Alibaba 2017 National Digital Economy Development Report.
The growth rate of Gansu province's online sales via Alibaba, China’s largest e-commerce platform, reached 114 percent year-on-year from January-November last year, the report said.
The national online sales volume grew 32.4 percent year-on-year, reaching 6.43 trillion yuan during the same period, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.
With the development of e-commerce and popularity of smart logistics in rural areas, consumption increased sharply in middle and western China.
Tibet autonomous region, East China's Fujian province, Northwest China's Shaanxi province and Southwest China's Guizhou province were among the top 10 regions with the fastest average per capita growth rate in the first 11 months last year. Following Beijing, Tibet autonomous region ranked fourth, showing strong consumption momentum.
