As a large number of designs inspired by Chinese culture were just displayed at runway shows, many stars and fashion pioneers have picked up the trend.
Dragons, phoenixes and cranes are still the popular patterns, which symbolize power, prosperity and longevity in traditional Chinese culture. Some new designs also added feathers to enhance the look.
Thanks to the new era, even common people can wear an embroidered coat with as many dragons as they want. Yet in ancient China, especially in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), the number of dragons was dependent on social status.
Often, emperors' clothes had nine dragons. The number is believed to connect with the origin of everything and great power in Chinese culture.
