The people of Kenya join me in sending their best wishes to the people of China, and to all those who will celebrate the Chinese New Year this Friday.

I believe this next year will mark a new milestone in the relations between Kenya and China, which have grown from strength to strength over half a millennium.

Indeed, our partnership has seen us work together on ambitious projects that are transforming the lives of Kenyans. One of them is the Standard Gauge Railway, the single largest infrastructure project in East and Central Africa — and proof of the power of co-operation and friendship between our two nations and peoples.

So it is with distinct pleasure that I join you in welcoming this new year. We have achieved much together, and I believe we will accomplish even more in the years to come.
