Safety is the top concern of airline companies. In rankings released by the World Air Stewardess Association, Air New Zealand was rated as the world's safest airline for this year.

The rankings consider four key aspects of airline safety: lower safety accident rates, very high levels of system and technical support for the development of airline safety, air crew members with a strong record in safe operations and the ability to handle a crisis, and the absence of any major air disasters in the last decade.

Air China was ranked fifth on the list.
