Nestle, yaofang.com to jointly promote special dietary foods
Nestle Health Science (NHSc) and yaofang.com signed partnership framework to further tap the Global Food for Special Medical Purpose (FSMP) industry in China.
From June 13, Nutren Optimum will be launched on yaofang.com and offline in its 50 DTC (direct to consumers) authorized stores nationwide.
According to statistics from China Nutrition and Health Food Association, the total annual consumption of FSMP in the world is 56 billion yuan ($8.75 billion)to 64 billion yuan, and the market scale is still increasing at an annual rate of 6 percent.
In the United States, 65 percent of malnourished patients are using FSMP, the percentage in the United Kingdom is 27 percent, while that in China, it is only 1.6 percent with a consumption scale of about 600 million yuan, which only accounts for 1 percent of the global market and is far from meeting the market demand.
Ye Gong, deputy general manager of yaofang.com, said the company is very optimistic about the development potential of the FSMP industry and is willing to carry out more in-depth cooperation with NHSc.
They will also organize patient education club and other activities in the offline health experience stores so as to enhance the patients' awareness of the important role of FSMP in the treatment of diseases, rehabilitation and maintenance of body functions, as well as improvement of the therapeutic effect and the quality of life of patients.
