Los Angeles City Council member Paul Koretz, who hosted the event, praised the program and the investment of Chinese companies in local communities.

"Given the current climate at the federal level between the US and China, including discussion of trade, this kind of collaboration among Los Angeles and China partners amidst a divisive national agenda demonstrates local vision and commitment to partnership and support of long-standing economic and cultural ties," Koretz said.

The Chinese sponsors of the program included Hainan Airlines Holding Company Ltd, Shunya International Inc, Greenland USA, ZPMC North America, Aland Health Holding Ltd, China Unicom (Americas) Operations Ltd, ICBC USA, COMAC America, and Shanghai Spring International Travel Services.

"It is a great program which enhances cultural exchange between China and the US," Zhou Tian, senior vice-president of Greenland Holding Group, told China Daily. "As an enterprise, we have always put a high value on our corporate social responsibility, and we think this is a great way to show our dedication to the community. We hope there will be more activities like this in the future."
