Hainan is predicted to be the most popular province in trans-provincial travel during this summer vacation according to a big data forecast report released by the China Tourism Academy and the Ctrip Tourism Big Data Joint Laboratory on June 29.
The report offers tourism figures and rankings of the upcoming summer vacation. Besides Hainan, the most popular provinces and autonomous region are Yunnan, Sichuan, Guangxi, Zhejiang, Hunan and Fujian. Moreover, Sanya in Hainan province is anticipated to receive the most tourists this July and August among domestic cities, followed by Beijing, Guilin, Kunming, Xiamen, Lijiang and Zhangjiajie. Bookings of tours in islands, mountains and grasslands will also be continuously high.
The report is anticipated to increase the number of tourists. Resulting income will continue to increase in the summer vacation and the period is expected to become a travel and financial peak of the year. A travel intention survey conducted by the China Tourism Academy showed that 86.4 percent of people are planning to travel in the third quarter and August might see the highest numbers as people try to escape the heat.
Per capita tourism consumption in the summer vacation is expected to reach 4,000 yuan ($602.05), an increase of 15 percent over the same period last year.
