More than 3,000 runners joined a run around Nanjing’s city wall of Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) on September 16.
The 15,000-meter marathon exposed runners from 33 countries and regions to the Qinhuai river, celebrity residence, local food and traditional handcrafts in the interim.
Kemboi Reuben from Kenya won the top prize in the end, with 45 minutes and 56 seconds.
A total of 15 points showcasing traditional paper cutting, shadow puppets, facial makeup and copper sculpture were integrated along the route.
Local government was aiming to rely on the marathon to promote local culture and tourism and support the city wall in becoming a world cultural heritage.
