Intl photography festival boosts Sino-French cultural ties
Jean-Maurice Ripert, France's ambassador to China, said the festival not only introduces the top international photography works to China, but also showcases the best of modern photography works from Chinese artists.
And he also mentioned that eight selected exhibitions from the Arles International Photography Festival will be shown to the public this time.
"The Jimei Arles International Photography Festival has been praised by French President Emmanuel Macron as one of the classic examples of cultural cooperation between China and France," said the ambassador, adding that he had discussed with local authorities the possibility of expanding to more cultural exchanges in the near future.
It is worth noting that the festival features more than 30 sub-exhibitions, showcasing images snapped by more than 70 artists from countries around the world, including France, the US, Netherlands and the UK.
South Korea, as a country of honor for this year's festival, will be invited to show its photographers from three different age groups by three exhibitions to Chinese visitors with the aim of advancing cultural exchanges between both countries.
In addition to exhibitions, various activities – such as lectures, dialogues and cultural performances -- will take place, welcoming the public and photography enthusiasts to attend during the festival.
