MimiRichi: Paper World

A white sheet of paper is always considered a symbol of endless creative abilities, which gives an incredible freedom to the imagination. Many works of art begin with a clean sheet of paper. MimiRichi theater proves that a sheet of paper conceals no fewer opportunities for the theater. In their production Paper World, it is transformed into a great source of acting and improvisation. That simply delights in being able to create their paradoxical images almost out of nothing. Having in their repertoire some solo programs and going on tour with them, the MimiRichi possesses a wide experience in a combination of concerts with other genres performers. The MimiRichi name means a rich mimicry and plastic, they help actors not only to attract attention but also to be various in their shows in any country of the world, irrespective of an age category.

Shanghai Dramatic Arts Center The Wilderness

The Wilderness is the classic masterpiece of Cao Yu, who is one of the most outstanding dramatists in the history of Chinese modern literature. By telling a tragic story of revenge, the author profoundly demonstrates the confusion of life dilemma and the philosophical reflections on the mysterious universe. This modern version of The Wilderness is directed by the director of Shanghai Dramatic Arts Center, He Nian. It brings new charms to the classics with brand new ideas and forms. The performance has been received lots of favorable comments so far. Shanghai Dramatic Arts Center is the only national theater company in Shanghai, and is also the city's home of theater and performing arts. It was established in 1995 with the merging of the Shanghai People's Arts Theater and Shanghai Youth Drama Troupe both founded in the 1950s and played important roles in the development of drama in China.

Web Traffic 2.0

Date: Dec 14-16 - 2 pm/7:30 pm

Venue: Shanghai International Dance Center

Cut-in from the widely known female anchor, Web Traffic touches the economy of the live broadcast and its performance mechanism through a combination of dance theater, multimedia projection, and live broadcast. In Web Traffic, female anchor Liu Xiaoliang and her team struggle in the industry chain of the live broadcast in shuffle period. She and her team seek for rules of the game and search for identity. Web Traffic also reveals that the audiences and the actors are wandering between reality and illusion in the process of acquiring a sense of belonging and self-realization in this particular subculture exchange ecology. In Web Traffic, the female anchor Liu Xiaoliang is performed by Jiang Fan, who sometimes plays silly live broadcast through the huge mobile phone screen hanging on the stage, sometimes shows the unknown living state of female anchors through exaggerated dancing, and sometimes tells her thoughts to the audiences like a lonely girl. The audiences would sit on the stage and closely interact with the actors. They are both the audiences for the performance and the realistic spectators.
