Countrywide program to improve tour guides'commentary
China Foundation for Cultural Heritage Conservation has launched a nationwide project to improve tour guides’ commentary on the country’s cultural heritage sites, according to a conference held in Beijing on Thursday.
In 2018, Hunan province and 10 other cities all across China were chosen as tentative targets in the project, which widely encouraged social efforts to draft the commentaries.
According to the statistics of the foundation in 2016, only 20 percent of the country’s key protection cultural heritage sites have officially-released commentaries. The number was merely 12 percent among the city and county-level sites.
Li Xiaojie, head of the foundation, said this composed a threshold to fully display cultural values of the sites. And many tourists were misled by wrong information in current commentaries.
