A short video which tells a story about a Chinese young man stopping traffic to let an elderly lady cross the street have won praise among netizens from home and abroad.

The moving story took place in Hezhou, South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, last September. In the video, an aged woman limping on a crutch seems to have trouble walking quickly, so misses the last seconds of a green traffic light. She looked helpless in the video.

Some cars stopped to let her pass, but there were still quite a few moving. At this moment, a young man saw her and drove his motorcycle in front of the traffic to let the woman walk across the road safely.

By Saturday, with more than 50 million netizens taking part in the discussion, the story was viewed 188 million times on overseas social media such as Twitter and YouTube, receiving 6.24 million likes and thumbs-up.

The young Chinese's heartwarming behavior received wide praise on the internet. Some even suggested "Track him down and give him a medal".

"...That was very honorable. One day we will all be in that stage of our life, and it will be good to meet such a compassionate man," one Facebook user said.
