Beijing showcases environmental protection in Macao
The Beijing delegation to the 2019 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum and Exhibition showcased the environmental improvements made in China's capital city from March 28 to 30, promoting its key goal of sustainable development.
The event offers a platform for research on international environmental protection policies and communication on environmental protection technology.
Beijing taking part in the event marks one of the city's most important activities for Beijing-Macao partnership in 2019. Its delegation attended the event's opening ceremony, an environmental protection promotion meeting and a green forum, and also set up its own pavilion in the main exhibition hall.
The pavilion held its own opening ceremony on Thursday afternoon and Zeng Jin, deputy secretary general of the Beijing government, said at the event that Beijing has worked hard on improving its environment, especially the prevention and control of air, water and soil pollution.
The city has become a verification, demonstration and application area for the world's most advanced technology and products, Zeng said, adding several new technologies including low-nitrogen combustion have been applied in Beijing.
The city was founded more than 3,000 years ago and all past city builders have pursued creating a beautiful city with a good life for the people, he added.
According to Zeng, Beijing hoped to share its achievements and experience on improving environmental quality and discuss related cooperation at the 2019 forum and exhibition.
The Beijing pavilion covered an area of nearly 300 square meters and used display boards and advertising to showcase the city's air pollution abatement over the past two decades, its air quality management system, motor vehicle pollution control and collaborative control of Beijing and its nearby regions.
On Thursday afternoon, the Beijing Association of Environmental Protection Industry organized for eight companies including BBMG Corp to attend a promotional meeting at the pavilion. The activity promoted the green products and technology of Beijing enterprises, and invited representatives from Macao and Portuguese-speaking countries to look for cooperation opportunities.
BBMG introduced its technology which uses cement kilns to harmlessly dispose of urban solid waste, while Thunip Corp promoted its upgraded sewage treatment technology.
