China Art Festival to be held in Shanghai
The 12th China Art Festival will open on May 20 at the Shanghai Grand Theater, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism said on April 18.
The event will feature 102 performances by Chinese art troupes, covering opera, dance drama, concerts and folk opera, from May 15 to 31.
Besides live performances, there will be exhibitions covering calligraphy, photography and paintings.
The Wenhua Award, a prize for professional stage performances presented every three years, will also be given out at the festival.
Also, 84 stage works have entered the final round of the competition to win the Qunxing Award, which the Ministry of Culture and Tourism grants as the top prize for amateur artistic works.
The China Art Festival, founded in 1987, is held every three years across China.
