Southwestern China's Yunnan province released new preferential policies to promote economic and cultural exchanges with Taiwan on Tuesday.

A total of 75 measures, covering a wide range of fields, were introduced by the provincial government of Yunnan province, including 34 measures specifically designed for economic and trade cooperation between the two provinces.

According to these measures, Taiwan entrepreneurs will have easier access to land use, research and development, and financial services, and Taiwan companies will also be allowed to take part in bidding in projects such as energy, environmental protection and urban renovation.

Those Taiwan residents who invest in plantation, livestock breeding and aquaculture, food processing and cold chain logistics in Yunnan, with an investment between 500 million yuan ($73.4 million) and 1 billion yuan, will get a bonus equivalent to 5 percent of the total investment. The bonus will rise to 10 percent, when the investment surpasses 1 billion yuan.

These measures also feature favorable policies on building joint ventures in healthcare and eldercare services in Yunnan.

In addition, individuals from Taiwan can enjoy the same opportunities as local residents in schools, employment and business startups, according to the measures.
