Building bridges: Recent exhibition celebrated the Belt and Road Forum
In celebration of the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, an exhibition centered on contemporary artist Shu Yong's artwork, Golden Bridge on Silk Road, opened on April 23.
The exhibition records the development and influences of the artwork, which echoes the original installation that stands in front of the China National Convention Center in Beijing, where the forum was hosted from April 25 to 27.
Since it was created in 2015, different versions of the piece have been exhibited at a range of international events, including the Milan Expo 2015, the first Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in 2017, and Expo 2018 Astana.
Shu Yong said at the opening ceremony that he would like to donate the artwork to the country: "It is because I hope it can further play its role of connecting people and cultures with the support of the nation, and truly become a bridge for peaceful development throughout the world."
After the first Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, Shu Yong has been working on a tour exhibit of the artwork, which aims to construct Golden Bridge on Silk Road cultural centers across countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.
