Affordable artificial hand shown at innovation week
An artificial hand that can mimic gestures was among 130 innovative projects presented in Shanghai during the 2019 National Mass Innovation and Entrepreneurship Week from June 13 to 19.
Shen Biao, an engineer of OYMotion Technology, explained that the robotic device can be used as a hand replacement for amputees or be utilized by professionals who have to deal with dangerous work such as explosives disposal.
Shen said the company has already tested the prosthetic hand with some disabled people who were able to rely on it to eat, write and prepare food. He added that the device can be used for an entire day when fully charged.
"The price of this product is just a quarter of those of similar foreign products," he said. "Our aim is to make it affordable to more disabled people."
