Poetry Moment: Zhang Xincheng reads for you
Here is the last episode of the China Daily website's original short video series Poetry Moment – the perfect end to the first season.
The final episode's guest is a young actor, Zhang Xincheng. He is versatile - not only proficient in singing, dancing and playing the piano, but also in musical theater and Peking opera.
As an actor, he has played the roles of Lin Yang, a heart-warming person in My Huckleberry Friends, bringing him popular acclaim. Since then, he has continued to appear in well-received dramas, along with the costume spy drama Young Blood, which is currently airing.
In this episode, Zhang Xincheng reads American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's short lyrical poem The Arrow and the Song. The poem deftly and implicitly praises the longevity of friendship, allowing Zhang to share his feelings about friendship for everyone – good friendship means that happy and unhappy things can be shared with each other without fear of reproach. When you need your friends, they will comfort and encourage you, and when you feel proud, they will share joy with you.
In the program, Zhang Xincheng also shares the surprise and growth he gained after playing the role in the drama Young Blood. He said the role was very different from the "good man" he usually plays. He was stressed when he first got the script, but he explored it step by step before finally immersing himself in the role.
