Xinjiang on Tuesday launched the region's first legal service center for companies doing business with Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) countries.

The move is an effort to provide the necessary services for business opportunities presented by the BRI.

The center, co-founded by Xinjiang High-Tech Talents Management Co Ltd and the Dentons China Urumqi branch, has its base in the law firm and also has a presence in the tech company's headquarters.

The center will provide free legal services, according to a statement from the base.

It will provide legal advice for companies' major decisions, assist with companies risk prevention and control systems, improve internal management and provide other related services, the statement said.

Zhang Bo, deputy head of the Lawyers Association of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, said the base will facilitate companies conducting business with BRI countries.

The association will select and manage talent in order to provide efficient and comprehensive services, Zhang said.

With the growth of the initiative, companies in Xinjiang have been met with growing demand from BRI countries, which makes the legal services center all the more important, said Shao Chaolun, manager of the talent management company.

At the launch ceremony on Tuesday, July 25, 12 lawyers were awarded certificates for encouraging participation in the center's services.

Liu Jianing in Beijing contributed to this story.
