It was jointly initiated by the Cyberspace Administration of China and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. China Global Television Network (CGTN) and Xinhuanet.com will host the online campaign.
According to Yang Xiaowei, deputy director of the Cyberspace Administration of China, the drive is aimed at removing cultural barriers, resisting prejudices and reducing misunderstandings between nations, while at the same time bridging gaps in civilizations.
He noted that 2019 marks the 25th year of China's connection to the internet. Now, the country has 829 million internet users, 5.23 million websites, and its internet bandwidth of international exit has reached 9,000 gigabytes.
