Hangzhou launches program to draw more Japanese visitors
Hangzhou has recently launched a program to attract more travelers from Japan.
The Meeting in Hangzhou program is part of the efforts by the Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, TV and Tourism to upgrade the city's appeal as an international destination.
As part of the program, Hangzhou has invited travel key opinion leaders from Japan to experience the essence of what it has to offer.
All of the visitors' journeys would be recorded and showcased via popular social media, such as Facebook,Instagram and YouTube.
The idea of the program is to further tap into local tourism resources and develop new experiences for Japanese travelers.
The Hangzhou authority will also stage a tourism carnival in the streets of Tokyo in September to let the Japanese savor a slice of Hangzhou at close quarters.
Japan is an important source of inbound tourists to Hangzhou. The city received 243,200 Japanese travel visits in 2018, up 12.55 percent as compared with the previous year.
