HKSAR's celebrations to mark 70th National Day
A series of celebration activities will be held in Hong Kong on October 1 (Tuesday) to mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Major activities will include a Flag-Raising Ceremony cum National Day Reception and the launch of the reprogrammed "A Symphony on Lights" as well as release of a special stamp issue on the theme "70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China".
Apart from the Flag-Raising Ceremony cum National Day Reception to be held in the morning on October 1, every night at 8pm in October this year the multimedia light and sound show "A Symphony of Lights" will bring to the audience a fresh visual and audio experience through the reprogramming of relevant LED panels to display celebration elements for the National Day.
Hongkong Post will issue a set of four special stamps and a stamp sheetlet on the theme "70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China" on National Day, October 1 (see photos). In addition, China Post, the Macao Post and Telecommunications and Hongkong Post will jointly issue a stamp booklet containing three respective stamp sheetlets in se-tenant style to showcase the shared joy in celebrating this special day. Lamppost buntings and wall banners with a 70th anniversary theme will be installed on the main streets in various districts, on the external walls of government buildings, at government venues and at boundary checkpoints from this week to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
A dedicated website for celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China has also been launched today (September 23). Members of the public can obtain details of celebration activities by the Government and the latest updates at www.nationalday70.gov.hk.
