Election for Canadian House of Commons
The 2019 Canadian federal election, formally known as the 43rd Canadian general election, is scheduled to take place on Oct 21 to elect members of the House of Commons to Parliament.
The 40-day campaign started on Sept 11, and will see the incumbent Liberals attempt to retain their majority win from the 2015 election. The Conservative Party under Andrew Scheer, the New Democratic Party under Jagmeet Singh, the Green Party under Elizabeth May, and the People's Party under Maxime Bernier will contest the in-power, Liberal government.
Governor General Julie Payette dissolved the 42nd Parliament on Sept 11 under instruction of PM Trudeau, the traditional action that commences an election.
