Three new plays to hit international art festival
The first to be shown is Everything Is a Miracle, a play written by Lin Weiran and directed by Lou Naiming. The play, which is about a young social worker and how he deals with the relocation of his old neighborhood, will have two performances at Shanghai Culture Square on Friday and Saturday.
"The relocation of a community is often a life-changing experience for people, and in the process, family conflicts, secrets and all kinds of problems are exposed," says Lin the playwright.
Residential relocations have been common over the past few decades as China underwent rapid urbanization.
"We want to tell a story that is true to the everyday lives of ordinary people," Lou says. "I hope audiences can laugh and cry watching it and leave the theater with warm hearts."
