Rising stars shine at close of China Online Movie Week
The closing ceremony of the first China Online Movie Week took place in Anren ancient town on the outskirts of Chengdu, capital of Southwest China's Sichuan province, on Friday, studded by young and rising stars from China's film and TV industries.
The film week, which opened on Oct 22, shed light on problems facing the Chinese online movie industry and aimed to look for solutions for a better future. It featured more than 200 representatives from academic circles, industry, production companies and research institutions. They shared ideas regarding content creation, industry regulation and talent cultivation.
The idea of "online movies", widely referring to those screened on the internet instead of cinemas, first emerged in China in 2014. Broadcast on China's Netflix-like services iQiyi, Tencent Video and Alibaba's Youku, these movies have won wide popularity among young viewers.
