Story line:

In 1963, the members of Xiangyangchuan Production Brigade at Longhe People's Commune overcame the difficulties caused by three years of natural disasters with the revolutionary spirit of hard-work and self-reliance, embracing the first increase in summer harvest. Just as they were celebrating the harvest and building the power station, flash flood in the lower reaches of the Longhe River trapped the Guniuwan Production Brigade, and the victims were in urgent need of food. As the flood had destroyed the roads, only the Xiangyangchuan brigade in the upper reaches could deliver the food in time by waterways to solve the urgent problem. Chang Cuilin, secretary of Xiangyangchuan Party branch, actively prepared the food and rafts for disaster relief. However, the production brigade leader, Ning Yonglu, was reluctant to take the food, but was finally persuaded by Chang Cuilin. They drove rafts in the stormy Longhe River. The violent storm and impetuous torrent put people and food in danger at any time. Ning Yonglu wavered again, but Chang Cuilin persuaded him and led everyone to fight against the dangerous shoals and rush through the rapids. At the life-or-death moment when Chang Cuilin's sister Chang Cuihua unfortunately fell into water, he endured great sorrow but sent "life-saving food" to the disaster area without hesitation.
