Wine cabinet fuses art with functionality
Furniture brand Landbond Corten and architect Guan Tianxin jointly launched wine cabinet series in Beijing on Nov 12.
Lin Fu, general manager of the brand, at the launch ceremony said, "In the past, many people only saw a wine cabinet as a piece of functional furniture, but in fact, it carries people's expectation for freedom. For this particular series, we reinforce the artistry of the wine cabinet, to remind people that there is art in ordinary life."
Guan designed the series under three themes – "traveler", "magician" and "artist".
The "traveler" cabinet is shaped like a suitcase with metal edge and colorful rabbit pattern drawn by Luo Jingjing.
He said it is designed for young, fashionable and romantic women who are passionate about life and interested in everything.
The "magician" is a minimalist piece. Guan described it as a clean box with a concrete appearance. He chose carbonized solid wood texture to show the irreproducible beauty of the slipping time.
"I wish to deliver the combination of roughness and static beauty," Guan said.
Guan revealed that the "artist" collection was first named as "millionaire", because he wanted to pursue the sense of modest luxury and elegance.
"I hope that every person who uses the wine cabinet will feel attached, and interact with it, and establish mutual connection with it in different time periods, different moods," Guan said.
