Endangered horse species thriving in China

China's efforts in protecting Przewalski's horses is paying off, with the country estimated to have registered more than 600 such wild horses, representing about one-third of the world's total. Now China has the largest population of wild horses in the world, according to a recent survey conducted by Xinjiang Wild Horse Breeding Research Center.
The wild horses include 593 now living in the wild and those in wildlife parks in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region and Gansu province, both in Northwest China, according to the survey.
