This picture shows a letter to President Xi Jinping from pupils of the Premier School Affiliated to Hou Kong Middle School in South China's Macao. Pupils wrote the letter prior to International Children's Day on May 14, 2019.
In their letter, they spoke of their understanding of the motherland and expressed their determination to make the motherland and Macao better when they grow up.
In a reply letter dated May 31, Xi expressed his hope that the students could pass on the fine tradition of loving the motherland and loving Macao and make contributions to Macao's development and the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation when they grow up.
"At a young age, you already know that the motherland is Macao's strong backer," Xi said. "I am so glad about it."
