Famed baritone performs to highlight museum night
Renowned baritone Liao Changyong presented a recital at the National Art Museum of China in Beijing on Dec 10 at the museum's latest night event.
Liao sang a dozen of songs whose lyrics are borrowed from classic Chinese poems that are well known to households.
Meanwhile, images of the paintings and sculptures which suit the scenes and atmosphere depicted in the lyrics and are in the museum's collection were projected onto the background panel on stage, increasing the audience's audio and visual experiences.
Wu Weishan, director of the National Art Museum, said the museum is innovating to improve its visitors' understanding of Chinese aesthetics, not only through the shows of its collection but also through cross-disciplinary ways by combining fine art with other forms of art.
