China has witnessed a boom in opening public art museums, both governmental and private, over the past two decades. Meanwhile, how to make the best use of these museum spaces to educate people and allow their collections to reach more individuals has become a hot topic among museum administration, policymakers and scholars.

Participants at a recent forum in Beijing shared their opinions on the diverse art museum collections, research, public education programs and international exchanges.

Held at the National Art Museum of China on Monday, the forum was attended by members of governmental bodies, art museums and academies.

At the forum, attendants also discussed the orientation of modern Chinese art based on their specific studies of National Art Museum's collection.
