Mainland willing to share cultural development opportunities with Taiwan: official
BEIJING, Dec. 25 (Xinhua) -- An official with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Wednesday said that the Chinese mainland is willing to share its opportunities for cultural development with Taiwan compatriots.
Man Hongwei, an official with the ministry's Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan affairs office, made the remarks in response to a request to explain a measure encouraging Taiwan's participation in the mainland's cultural development at a regular press conference held by the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council.
The measure is one of the "26 measures" unveiled by the mainland last month to further promote economic and cultural exchanges and cooperation across the Taiwan Strait.
The mainland welcomes Taiwan compatriots to participate in the building and operation of cultural parks on the mainland, Man said, adding that the mainland will open more national platforms for cultural events from Taiwan, including exhibitions and performances.
Man also said that from 2020, Taiwan compatriots working on the mainland are eligible to apply for a national award on cartoon and animation, a move to advance cross-Strait exchanges and cooperation in this field.
