Visitors to Macao on package tours decline by 43.5 percent in Nov
MACAO - The visitors to China's Macao on package tours in November 2019 declined remarkably by 43.5 percent year-on-year to 511,000, the special administrative region's statistics service said here on Saturday.
The latest report from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that package tour visitors from the mainland (381,000), South Korea (36,000), China's Hong Kong SAR (7,100) and China's Taiwan region (60,000) dropped by 47.1 percent, 38.8 percent, 52.8 percent and 4.6 percent respectively, whereas those from Malaysia (7,100) increased by 20.7 percent.
In the first 11 months of 2019, the number of package tour visitors totaled 7.79 million, down by 4.9 percent year-on-year, the DSEC report said.
Outbound Macao residents using travel agency services totaled 138,000 in November, a decrease of 10.4 percent year-on-year.
Macao residents traveling under own arrangements dropped by 20.8 percent to 88,000, with those visiting the mainland (32,000), China's Hong Kong SAR (23,000) and China's Taiwan region (11,000) falling by 25.0 percent, 28.2 percent and 28.4 percent respectively.
Meanwhile, residents traveling on package tours rose by 16.5 percent to 50,000 on account of a 21.3 percent growth in those visiting the mainland (40,000).
In the first 11 months of 2019, outbound Macao residents using travel agency services edged up by 0.3 percent year-on-year to 1.62 million.
