Mauritian ministers express confidence in China's virus fight
Two Mauritian officials, Stephan Toussaint, minister of youth empowerment, sports and recreation, and Georges Pierre Lesjongard, minister of tourism, conveyed their confidence in the Chinese government and people in winning the fight against the novel coronavirus outbreak.
During his meeting with Zhang Xinhong, cultural counsellor of the Chinese embassy in Mauritius, Toussaint spoke highly of China's efficiency in curbing the spread of the virus. With solidarity and cooperation, he believes the nation will see a victory in the future.
According to Toussaint, the exchange between Chinese and Mauritian youth in sports has been an emblem of mutual understanding and friendship. The two sides share hope in deepening the cooperative ties in the future.
As global tourism has taken a hit because of the COVID-19 outbreak, so has the travel economy in Mauritius. Minister Lesjongard said the country greatly values the Chinese market. It is his hope to visit China in the near future to discuss further collaboration.
