Wiener Symphoniker, one of the three leading symphony orchestras in Austria's capital, and Tianjin Grand Theatre have developed stronger ties since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

When Tianjin was hit by the virus in February, musicians from the Wiener orchestra, sent a video of themselves performing Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 in F Major, Op. 68, to encourage the Tianjin musicians and their co-workers at the theatre. The video expressed sincere wishes for the orchestra's Tianjin friends to overcome their difficulties soon.

In late March, upon learning that the coronavirus had spread to Austria, Tianjin Grand Theatre produced a video of the Wiener Symphoniker's performance at the theatre in 2018 and sent it to the European group.
