30 new COVID-19 cases on mainland; 23 imported, 7 local
A total of 30 new confirmed cases of novel coronavirus infections were reported on Tuesday on the Chinese mainland, bringing the number up to 82,788, along with no fatalities, according to the National Health Commission.
With seven locally transmitted cases all occurring in Heilongjiang province, the rest of the 23 infections were imported cases, bringing the tally to 1,610 as of Tuesday midnight, said the commission.
Of the 1,610 imported cases, 811 patients were still under treatment, including 41 severe cases, while a total of 799 patients had been discharged from hospitals after recovery by the end of Tuesday with no deaths reported.
Also on Tuesday, 28 people were discharged from hospitals after recovery, while the number of those in severe condition stood at 78. A total of 77,151 people had been discharged from hospitals after recovery as of Tuesday midnight.
With another three new suspected cases reported Tuesday, a total of 35 people, 30 of whom arrived from abroad, are still suspected of being infected with the virus, it added.
Health authorities said that 8,796 close contacts were still under medical observation. On Tuesday, 784 people were discharged from medical observation.
The Chinese mainland also reported 42 new asymptomatic cases on Tuesday, along with 42 discharged from medical observation. So far, a total of 991 asymptomatic patients infected with the virus are still under medical observation, 172 of whom were detected from inbound arrivals, according to the commission.
By the end of Tuesday, 1,029 confirmed cases including four deaths had been reported in Hong Kong, 45 confirmed cases in Macao, and 425 in Taiwan including six deaths. And 650 patients in Hong Kong, 24 in Macao and 217 in Taiwan have been discharged from hospitals after recovery.
Hubei province, the hardest-hit region on the Chinese mainland, has reported zero locally transmitted cases or new fatalities on Tuesday, with only 97 patients so far still under treatment.
The province also saw five patients discharged from hospitals after recovery on Tuesday, bringing the total number of discharged patients in the province to 63,519, it said, adding that Hubei had no suspected cases as of Tuesday midnight.
