ZTE donates remote medical system to XJTU and Italian hospital
A ceremony marking the donation of a remote diagnosis and treatment system, from the ZTE Corporation Foundation to Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) and a hospital in Italy, was held at the First Affiliated Hospital of XJTU on May 18.
XJTU and Chinese telecom equipment firm ZTE have a long history of friendly cooperation. More than 800 of the university's outstanding graduates have joined ZTE.
Zhang Maizeng, Party secretary of the XJTU committee, expressed his gratitude to ZTE for the donation. He said he hopes to continue to strengthen cooperation with ZTE in talent training, industry-university research, high-end think tanks, large projects, and large platform construction.
Li Zixue, president of ZTE Corporation, said ZTE is using the latest communication technology in global COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control efforts, in order to provide strong support for remote diagnosis and treatment. ZTE will work together with China and Italy to fight against the epidemic.
In remote speeches, officials of Italy and doctors from the Italian hospital gave their gratitude to ZTE for its generous donation, and also to the First Affiliated Hospital of XJTU for the way it has shared its experiences of epidemic prevention and control.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Italy. It is hoped that the two countries will deepen cooperation in the fields of science and technology, innovation and culture, they said.
During the epidemic period, the hospitals of the two countries have conducted multiple video connections, shared experiences and exchanged technologies, enhancing their Belt and Road cooperation.
