China firmly opposes US defamation of Chinese companies
China is firmly opposed to the US defaming and cracking down on Chinese companies, including Huawei, Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said on Tuesday, after the US announced further restrictions on the Chinese telecommunications company's access to US technology.
The US has been exercising "naked hegemony" by imposing various restrictions on Chinese companies, including Huawei, without providing any solid evidence for doing so, Zhao said.
What the US has done has torn apart the market economy and fair competition, which it has been flaunting, violated international trade rules and disrupted global supply chains, and will damage the US's own interests and image in the end, Zhao also said.
In the past three decades, Huawei has built more than 1,500 networks in more than 170 countries and regions, and offered services to more than 3 billion people, and no country can provide evidence that its products have back doors, Zhao said.
The US should stop its defamation on China and crackdown on Chinese companies, and the Chinese government will continue to take necessary steps to safeguard the legitimate interests of Chinese companies, Zhao said.
