China International Chorus Festival, 28 years of glory
Since the initial debut of the biannual China International Chorus Festival in 1992, 14 sessions have been successfully held. As per figures, the number of participating choirs, both domestic and abroad, has exceeded 4,000 and more than 80,000 choir members have taken part in the festival over the past 28 years.
From independently organizing the event to cooperating with various organizations, CICF has developed into a professional and mature non-profit platform that strives to keep up with times and continue exploring all the possible models to share music across the globe.
As the 15th China International Chorus Festival is about to be unveiled at the end of September this year, let's take a walk down the memory lane and look back at the highlights of the 14 sessions held in 28 years.
The first China International Chorus Festival

With the song "For Tomorrow's Friendship and Peace" as the opening number, CICF was born. The first China International Chorus Festival held a grand opening ceremony, four choral concerts and a closing ceremony. On July 21, the first China International Chorus Festival was brought to a successful close with the chorus singing Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony “Ode to Joy” (conducted by Li Fangfang from Beijing Armed Police Corps Band).
