CHNG contributes to clean, reliable power supply in Cambodia
China has been an indispensable player in ensuring safe, clean, highly-efficient and smart power supply in Cambodia.
An open day event themed on "Energize where you are" was held on Nov 23 at the Lower Sesan 2 Hydropower Station, Cambodia's largest hydropower project, showcasing its operation and power supply amid the epidemic.
With a 6,500-meter dam, the station has an installed capacity of 400,000 kilowatts, 14 percent of the country's total.
The station is capable of producing about 2 billion kWh of power annually, which greatly relieves electricity shortages and lowers power costs in Cambodia.
Its strong power supply capacity plays a significant role in boosting economic and social development throughout the country.
The project was built by China Huaneng Group Co, Ltd. (CHNG) who also paid great attention to local biodiversity protection and fulfillment of social responsibilities.
The company invested about $1.5 million to construct a bio-fishway on the right bank of the Sesan River to limit the impact on the surrounding environment.
It has also built a new village with schools, clinics, temples and police stations as well as a drainage system, power grid and wells.
