Yang Peilin has practiced calligraphy for years, which has influenced his work in paintings, sculptures and installations. Because of this, he uses a lot of ink and traditional xuan paper. He explores the possibilities of the two centuries-old materials by folding, binding, pressing and reshaping pieces of xuan paper on which he painted or wrote in ink.
Unintended Presentation, Yang's solo exhibition at the Today Art Museum in Beijing running until May 30, shows 46 works where one will see great beauty in the forms, colors and lines.
