Jackie Chan takes home Weibo's top acting honor
Overtaking Patty Jenkins as the world‘s highest-grossing female director for a single film thanks to her directorial feature Hi, Mom, director-actress Jia Ling won the most popular director of the year award. The film’s lead actress Zhang Xiaofei won the most popular performer of the year award.
With her vivid depiction of a modern Shanghai beauty in the smash hit My Best Friend‘s Story, actress Ni Ni -- whose upcoming film 1921 was the opening film of the festival -- won the best performer award alongside actor Zhu Yilong.
Known for fantasy drama Guardian and the espionage TV series The Rebel, Zhu also stars in the revolutionary film 1921 playing Zhou Enlai, the first premier of the People‘s Republic of China.
A total of 20 awards were announced during the event, held on June 12. Currently, the hashtag releated to the event has garnered 18.8 billion views on the popular social platform Sina Weibo.
